Quick Start
Making a video recording
MiniDV Camera
- Charge the unit overnight using the wall adapter supplied
- Make sure the micro SD card is inserted into the camera correctly
- For normal video recording make sure the voice activated switch is turned off
- Press the top on/off button on the side of the unit once to "wake up" the camera and start recording (this usually takes 5 seconds from the time you press the button to when green recording light comes on). If the camera red light is already on, indicating it is on standby, recording will start immediately. To preserve battery life the camera reverts to standby mode after 1 minute of inactivity
- Once you have finished recording press the same on/off button again and the unit will revert to standby and automatically save the clip

Tips and Tricks
MiniDV Camera
- Make sure the camera is fully charged and it is turned on. The voice activation (VOX) slide should be turned off.
- The camera does not have a viewing screen and so relies on you pointing it at what you are trying to record. Experiment to get it right
- Try to hold the camera still and not make jerky movements. This is difficult in some situations we know
- When panning a shot make sure that this is done slowly
- If red and green lights remain on then the SD card needs to be re-formatted. This can be done easily on PC or MAC.
- Don't point the camera directly into the sun
- Make sure the green recording light is flashing before shooting video.
- The camera is not waterproof therefore make sure it is securely housed within the waterproof case and the door is closed properly before coming into contact with water
- To update the date stamp follow the instructions on the CD included.
- Keep the unit away from extremes of heat and cold
- MicroSD card. It is good practice to reformat your micro SD card after each transfer of files to your computer. Make sure you do not have videos on the card otherwise these will be lost in the process of reformatting. This will ensure that the card memory does not become corrupted.
